I've been negative about UMA for more than 2 years now, and quite frankly everything I've predicted has been accurate thus far - if anything, my forecasts were somewhat over-optimistic & I expect I'll have to downgrade them next time I update the report.

Secondly, as I've written on multiple times in the past, "seamless" is often "almost useless". It's vastly overhyped as a feature, and it's much more important to have intelligent handover, especially for anything other than the most basic of services/handsets.

Thirdly, there are several "foreseeable" - indeed, current - other ways to blend GSM and VoIP, some of which (eg PBX-based solutions for enterprise or potentially VCC) are much richer than UMA.

I could go on, to approximately "seventeenthly", but unfortunately I don't have time. Any operators wishing to know more detail are welcome to inquire about my consulting services.Dean Bubleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05719150957239368264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17500930.post-1164216059832664892006-11-22T17:20:00.000+00:002006-11-22T17:20:00.000+00:00Being so negative towards UMA, it is no suprise th...Being so negative towards UMA, it is no suprise that you didn't mention that UMA supports SMS (and all other GSM services). UMA is the only foreseeable solution that provides a seamless experience between GSM and WLAN/VoIP.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
