I see that Ofcom has unveiled its new interconnect costs for UK mobile operators, lasting from this April for 4 years. Interestingly the first line of the press release uses the specific phrase "for connecting calls on their mobile networks".
I haven't had a chance to wade through all the legislative bumph behind the PR page yet. If any lawyers would like to to have a look & see what the new rules might mean for MNOs "connecting calls on their fixed, WiFi or VoIP networks or to voicemail servers, but using their mobile numbers", I'd be fascinated.....

ReplyDeleteInteresting -- is this why T-Mobile has now decided to renegotiate with Truphone on the grounds that Truphone "isn't a mobile network"?
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter - I'd forgotten about this. May do another post....
